Consistency is a problem
Viewed from sea level, a mountain peak looks even more impressive🏔️.
Contrast does that.
Which is something to keep in mind when you are developing a narrative, whether it’s for marketing materials, your website or a presentation.
When things are too similar, they lack impact.
👉 Our tendency in business to aim for consistency, is therefore a problem.
I get it, though. Consistency signals you can be relied upon. You have your ducks in a row.
But consistency can also be boring.
Our brains adapt to sameness and start to tune out. As prediction making machines, our minds think we’ve got the message and start to think about other things. Like if I continue to harp on this point about sameness, you’ll lose interest. It’s repetitive and gets tiresome pretty quickly.
So.
Knowing when and how to punctuate your work so that the most important message stands out, that’s the key.
